Dr. Reps Sundin’s Educational Background

A native of Virginia, Dr. Sundin was raised in Virginia Beach. He attended Norfolk Academy, where he graduated with honors. He then attended Georgetown University where he was elected into the honor society, Phi Beta Kappa, and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a BS in Biology, which marked the onset of an educational career characterized by excellence.

While at Georgetown, Dr. Sundin did several years of cellular research focusing on breast cancer at the Lombardi Cancer Center. He then went on to receive an academic scholarship to attend the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Medicine, which is consistently ranked as one of the top hospitals in the country. 

During his time in medical school, Dr. Reps Sundin was elected vice president of the exclusive medical school honor society, Alpha Omega Alpha. He also pursued research in Plastic Surgery during medical school, having obtained an NIH fellowship. Dr. Sundin’s Further Education

Dr. Reps Sundin went on to obtain general surgical training at the University of Kentucky, where he obtained the highest score in his class on the General Surgery Inservice examination. He then continued his training at the University of Kansas Medical Center where he was one of the few residents in the country to be selected to pursue an integrated plastic and reconstructive surgery residency.

While in Kansas, Dr. Reps Sundin was trained in all aspects of plastic surgery including breast cancer reconstruction, burn surgery, facial trauma, pediatric plastic surgery and hand surgery. He also received extensive training in cosmetic surgery, specifically with regard to body contouring, abdominoplasty, breast reduction and augmentation, liposuction as well as facial rejuvenation.

Fellowship Training

After residency, Dr. Reps Sundin was selected as an Aesthetic Surgery Fellow at the prestigious Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital in association with the Institute of Reconstructive Plastic Surgery at New York University Medical Center. During this additional year of dedicated cosmetic surgery training, Dr. Sundin operated with some of the most renowned experts in the world of aesthetic surgery of the face, nose, and breast.

His mentors included Dr. Sherrell Aston, Dr. Alan Matarasso, Dr. Jennifer Walden, Dr. Nicolas Tabbal, Dr. Gerald Pittman, and many others. During his fellowship, Dr. Reps Sundin also had independent operating privileges and ran his own cosmetic clinic, in addition to time spent participating in the education and supervision of NYU plastic surgery residents.

A Commitment to Humanitarianism

Dr. Reps Sundin also has humanitarian interests and has participated in multiple volunteer missions. He spent a month at the Albert Schweizer Hospital in Haiti prior to medical school. During his last year of residency, he participated in a plastic surgery mission trip to the Dominican Republic with the group, Medical Aid for Children of Latin America. He plans to continue future involvement in volunteer work abroad.
