What is Liposuction?

If you’ve been exercising regularly and dieting diligently but still can’t seem to get rid of those stubborn bulges of fat, you’re certainly not alone. Many areas of the body store excess fat easily, refusing to give it up even when countered with the most healthy lifestyle choices.

Liposuction is a cosmetic surgical procedure that targets and removes excess fat deposits to enhance body shape and contour. Liposuction with Dr. Burton Sundin or Dr. Reps Sundin is an excellent solution when stubborn pockets of excess fat simply won’t respond to diet and exercise. You’ll enjoy a toned and fit silhouette by eliminating these fatty deposits.

What Happens During A Liposuction Procedure

During liposuction surgery, a hollow tube—known as a cannula—is inserted through a small incision made within the natural folds of your skin. This incision placement helps to reduce the presence of visible scarring. The excess fat will then be loosened and targeted tissues will be broken up before a surgical vacuum is used to suction out the excess fat.

Liposuction is an outpatient procedure usually conducted under general or local anesthesia with sedation to minimize your discomfort. Most of our patients have less pain following the surgery because we administer longer-acting local anesthesia as part of the procedure, and you’ll be given a detailed understanding of what you can expect during your consultation.

As you read on, you’ll notice that we offer an impressive range of liposuction options, enabling us to customize the treatment in a way that is specific to you, your body type, and your personal cosmetic goals. Your experience, therefore, will vary according to the procedure that is right for you, and you’ll be given detailed information well in advance of your procedure.

Your Liposuction Options

Thanks to our commitment to the latest technology and the most cutting-edge surgical techniques, Drs. Burton and Reps Sundin are excited to offer a wide variety of liposuction options, so you can enjoy your ideal outcome.

Little Lipo

Our signature liposuction technique, the LITTLE Lipo procedure was developed to create exemplary results with a minimally invasive procedure, so you can enjoy a reduced recovery period and minimal downtime.

Lipo 360

Sometimes also known as circumferential liposuction, this technique is ideal for patients who are concerned about the presence of excess fat in the midsection and abdomen. Lipo 360 addresses the entire area, for comprehensive results.

When combined with Renuvion, liposuction can have even more benefits. While liposuction is used to address the presence of unwanted excess fat, Renuvion goes to work tightening your skin for an extra boost to your results.

The J-Plasma treatment by Renuvion utilizes highly advanced helium plasma technology to create exciting skin tightening results. Some patients can even be treated in-office, using only local anesthesia, for minimal downtime.

BodyTite uses an impressive technology known as Radiofrequency-Assisted Liposuction (or “RFAL” for short). This procedure uses radiofrequency energy to literally melt away unwanted fat cells that are keeping you from your ideal look.

SmartLipo by Triplex uses a technology known as laser lipolysis to create its amazing results. The procedure can be customized according to your specific needs, enabling you to precisely target the results in which you’re most interested.

Large Volume Lipo (LOTTA Lipo)

If you’re interested in more sweeping results, Dr. Burton Sundin and Dr. Reps Sundin are here to help you enjoy your ideal figure. Large volume lipo, or LOTTA Lipo is perfect for patients who are interested in a more extensive procedure.

This impressive procedure utilizes vibration-assisted liposuction to gently and effectively remove unwanted fat from the treatment area. Tiny incisions and an ultra-thin cannula mean you'll experience minimal downtime.

Liposuction Recovery

Most patients can return to work in about a week or less after their surgery. Bruising typically lasts for a week or longer, and you may experience swelling for a few months. A special compression garment may be required to ensure the very best results.

Your recovery period will vary according to the specific liposuction procedure that you’ve undergone, and we’ll ensure that you are given detailed aftercare instructions and a thorough timeline that explains your experience.

After the swelling has subsided in four to six weeks, the improvements to your shape will become apparent. Approximately three months after your procedure, your final results will be visible, and you’ll be able to enjoy a contoured look.

Can liposuction get rid of cellulite?

Are there any risks to liposuction?

Liposuction, like any surgical procedure, carries potential risks such as infection, bleeding, and anesthesia complications. However, these risks can be minimized by choosing a skilled surgeon and following pre and post-operative instructions.

How long will my liposuction results last?

The duration of liposuction results can vary for each individual, influenced by factors such as lifestyle habits, weight management, and natural aging processes. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle can help prolong the benefits of the procedure and enhance long-term satisfaction.

How soon can I exercise after my liposuction procedure?

The timing for resuming exercise after liposuction is typically determined by your surgeon, but it is generally recommended to wait several weeks to allow for proper healing and minimize potential complications.

Will liposuction address loose skin?

Liposuction primarily targets excess fat, so while it can improve mild skin tightening, it may not fully address significant loose skin concerns, which may require additional procedures like a tummy tuck or body lift.

Can liposuction get rid of cellulite?

Liposuction is not specifically designed to eliminate cellulite, but it may have a slight smoothing effect on the skin's surface in some cases.
