Necklift Restore Your Youthful Jawline

Some of the common signs of aging make themselves known around the neck and jawline: skin begins to sag or droop, and excess fat collects under the chin…but these issues don’t have to be permanent in nature. The team here at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery can sculpt and shape your neck and jawline with a neck lift procedure that removes excess fat and skin around the jaw and upper neck, creating a more youthful and contoured appearance. Our offices are located in Richmond, Northern Virginia, Charlottesville, and Washington DC and we’re excited to learn more about how we can help you reach your cosmetic goals. To learn more, reach out and set up your initial consultation with a helpful member of our team.

Am I the Ideal Neck Lift Candidate?

The neck lift offers you the opportunity to enjoy a dramatic improvement to your appearance, restoring your youthful contours and generally creating a more rejuvenated look in the neck and jawline. Dr. Reps Sundin and Dr. Burton Sundin are both board-certified (ABPS) plastic surgeons with extensive training, and will be happy to meet with you and help you explore your surgical and non-surgical options

During your consultation at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery, your surgeon will speak to you about your goals and determine if you are a good candidate for a neck lift. The neck lift procedure can be especially effective for:

  • Recreating a sharper neckline
  • Eliminating “turkey neck”
  • Creating an elegant, graceful appearance
  • Correcting a double or triple chin
  • Rejuvenating the entire neck and jawline

Your Neck Lift Experience

During your consultation, Dr. Reps or Dr. Burton will work with you to create a personalized treatment plan for your neck lift procedure. We understand that every patient is unique, and don’t ever perform two surgeries in exactly the same way. Your neck lift will be performed under general anesthesia, and will likely take between two and three hours to complete. During the surgery, Dr. Sundin will make small incisions around your jawline, chin, and sometimes your ears.

Before your surgery, Dr. Sundin will tell you exactly what you can expect, in terms of incision placement, so you can know what kind of visible scarring you can anticipate once your surgery is complete and the recovery period is over. Dr. Sundin will call upon his extensive experience and will do everything he can to make the smallest possible incisions in inconspicuous locations, ensuring that they’re easily hidden once your recovery process is complete.

Your neck lift may include liposuction to remove excess fatty tissue, and skin tightening procedures to remove excess skin and reposition the tissues. In some cases, the procedure will also involve tightening the neck muscles. Before your surgery, Dr. Sundin will go over everything you might need to know about the procedure and your recovery experience, so you can enjoy total peace of mind as you look forward to your exciting results.

The Trampoline Neck Lift Technique our “Incisionless” Alternative

We’re excited to be offering the trampoline neck lift, here at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery, giving you a simple way to look younger and enjoy a more contoured neckline. Also known as an “incisionless” neck lift, the trampoline neck lift incorporates the use of the iGuide© system to redefine your neck contour and jawline.

The procedure is minimally invasive, using just small needlepoint incisions and creating results with minimal downtime. Dr. Sundin has trained extensively with the iGuide system during his fellowship with Dr. Sherrell Aston and has also had instruction from the inventor Dr. Gregory Mueller, so you can anticipate exemplary results.

Rest and Recovery After Your Neck Lift

You be given very detailed post-operative instructions to ensure optimal healing in advance of your procedure, and our team will remain available to you throughout the duration of your recovery experience.

Swelling and bruising after liposuction are normal, and will mostly subside within a few weeks of your procedure. You will need to wear a compression garment around the neck for several days or weeks after surgery, depending on the extent of your procedure.

Most patients resume work and regular activities within two to four weeks after surgery. You can start enjoying the results of your procedure once the swelling and bruising have dissipated. The incision sites will turn into small scars before fading away.
