What Is Avéli?

Avéli is an FDA-cleared cosmetic treatment used to reduce cellulite and smooth the skin of the thighs and buttocks. When compared to other popular cellulite treatments, Avéli is more precise and provides longer-lasting results.

How Does Avéli Work?

Avéli treatment utilizes an innovative device to carefully cut individual bands of connective fibrous tissue beneath the skin. These bands, which are called septa, tug down on the skin, causing the little divots that are known as cellulite.

During the treatment, the Avéli device is inserted into the skin through a tiny incision. Next, a small razor attached to the device is used to sever the specific bands of connective tissue that are causing the cellulite. Once the septa are cut, they stop pulling on the skin, which allows it to become smooth once again.

What Should I Expect During the Procedure?

If you think Avéli might be the right treatment for you, you should start by scheduling a consultation with one of our providers at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery. This will be your chance to ask any questions you have about the procedure and tell the doctor about your aesthetic goals. Your provider will need to know about your medical history, medications, and allergies. If you choose to proceed with Avéli, the doctor will work with you to devise a personalized treatment plan.

How Long Is the Recovery Time?

Avéli treatment requires very little recovery downtime. You may experience some swelling, bruising, and tenderness, and those symptoms can last up to a month. You should be able to jump back into your normal routine within a day or two of the procedure, but it’s important to refrain from strenuous physical activity for at least one to two weeks.

Am I a Candidate for Avéli?

Adults who would like to eliminate their cellulite and achieve smoother, more youthful skin may be good candidates for Avéli. You could be an ideal candidate for the treatment if you meet these requirements:

  • Have a reasonable amount of skin elasticity
  • Be in generally good health
  • Have the desire to reduce cellulite around the thighs and/or buttocks
  • Have realistic expectations
  • Be a non-smoker

How Long Will It Take To See Results After Avéli Treatment?

You can expect the full results of your Avéli treatment to gradually appear as the bruising and swelling subside. This can take anywhere from one to three months. Although Avéli is still a relatively new treatment, the results are believed to be very long-lasting.
