LOTTA Lipo Discover Your Ideal Physique

LOTTA Liposuction is a technique that employs large volume liposuction to address a significant amount of excess fat. This treatment is ideal for patients with exceptionally thick body areas, or who are interested in removing a relatively large volume of tissue from the entire body. By significantly debulking the body, the LOTTA liposuction procedure can help you enjoy improved function, enhanced mobility, significantly reduced weight, and the ability to more readily enjoy the outfits of your choice. The LOTTA Lipo Surgical Experience

Due to the significant volume changes and amount of fat removed, this procedure is performed under general anesthesia, in a hospital-based setting. Most patients will need to be admitted overnight and will be administered IV hydration. Admission to the hospital ultimately depends on the total volume and the overall health of the patient.

The treatment area will be infused with medications like tranexamic acid, arnica, and bromelain that cut down on bleeding and bruising, while also providing a significant degree of pain control both during and after the procedure. The LOTTA liposuction procedure can also be used as a tool in a stage or delayed skin excision operation such as abdominoplasty.

Given that this procedure is custom-tailored to the needs and physical characteristics of the patient, every surgery is different. You’ll be given a detailed understanding of what you can expect from your surgery, and our team will be available to you at all times to address any questions or concerns you might have.

Customizing Your Procedure

Just like traditional liposuction and LITTLE liposuction, other treatment modalities can be combined with your procedure to enhance the results of your LOTTA liposuction surgery. Vibrasculpt, for example (our power-assisted liposuction technique with small, oscillating cannulae), allows us to more delicately remove the fat cells with less trauma to surrounding tissue, while also making much smaller incisions.

Subdermal heating technologies like Renuvion or Bodytite can also significantly contribute to soft tissue tightening and skin contracture in the treatment area, giving you a toned and contoured look that you’ll absolutely love showing off.

Staging Your Procedure

Patients who are too large or too thick to undergo primary abdominoplasty may benefit from undergoing the LOTTA liposuction procedure as a preliminary procedure to debulk an area. Facilitating weight loss three to six months before an abdominoplasty or skin excision can significantly improve the overall results.

This staged procedure also allows for the removal of even more fat and reduces the risk of devascularising the skin, which would result in issues with the healing process and skin loss.  This approach also enables the blood supply to recover, decreasing the overall risks and encouraging an improved cosmetic result.

Your Rest and Recovery after LOTTA Lipo

Recovery after the LOTTA liposuction procedure tends to be longer and more involved than that which is experienced after traditional liposuction or LITTLE liposuction. You can expect to take one to two weeks off work, and will need to wear compression garments for six weeks to two months. Some patients also require drainage tubes.

Anticoagulation protocols are frequently employed to help prevent the occurrence of postoperative blood clots or DVTs. Postoperative massage and radiofrequency treatments are also important in the healing process. Before your procedure, we’ll give you a detailed understanding of what you can expect from your recovery period.

When you visit the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery, you gift yourself with an incredibly elite experience. Drs. Burton and Reps Sundin are co-practitioners and brothers with over 30 years of experience between them, and our team is excited to hear from you and learn more about how we can create your ideal cosmetic outcome.
