Restore Your Youthful Jawline with a Neck Lift
One of the common signs of aging is sagging skin and excess fat under the chin. Some people are genetically predisposed to developing jowls or loose skin around the jaw than others but the good news is we can perform a surgical procedure to sculpt and shape the entire jawline. We perform the neck lift procedure at our practice to remove excess fat and skin around the jaw and upper neck.
This procedure can make a dramatic difference to your appearance and restore youthful contours. Dr. Reps Sundin and Dr. Burton Sundin are both Board Certified (ABPS) Plastic Surgeons and perform this procedure under general anesthesia. During your consultation at the Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery, with offices in Richmond and Tyson’s Corner, Virginia, your surgeon will speak to you about your goals and determine if you are a good candidate for a neck lift. The neck lift procedure can be especially effective for:
- Recreating a sharper neck line
- Eliminating ‘turkey neck’
- Creating an elongated appearance of the neck
- Correcting a double or triple chin
- Rejuvenating the entire neck
How Neck Lift Surgery Works
Dr. Reps or Dr. Burton will create a personalized treatment plan for your neck lift procedure. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and involves making small incisions around the jaw line, chin, and sometimes the ears. It may include liposuction to remove excess fatty tissue and skin tightening procedures to remove excess skin and reposition the tissues. In some cases, the procedure will also involve tightening the neck muscles. Our doctors will do everything they can to make the smallest incisions possible in inconspicuous places so it will be easy to hide the incision sites as they heal.
You will receive specific post-op instructions to ensure optimal healing. Swelling and bruising after liposuction is normal and most of this will subside within weeks of surgery. You will need to wear a compression garment around the neck for several days or weeks after surgery, depending on the extent of the procedure. Most patients resume work and regular activities within two to four weeks after surgery. You can start enjoying the results of your procedure once the swelling and bruising has dissipated. The incision sites will turn into small scars before fading away.
