Breast Lift Surgery with Implants

What is breast lift surgery with implants? Breast lift with implants is a cosmetic surgery procedure that combines two separate procedures into one so that you get the dual benefits with just a single surgery. The breast lift part of the procedure will involve removal of loose skin from the breasts, lifting of the sagging breasts, and elevating the nipples and areolas to a more youthful level.

The breast augmentation part of the procedure will involve placement of saline or silicone implants in the breast tissue to add more volume to your breasts. In a combined procedure, many women may not require excessively large implants to achieve their desired breast fullness and shape.

When breast lift and breast implants are performed together, the cup size of your breasts will increase, and the breasts will appear tighter, perkier, and more youthful. The overall results will be more aesthetically appealing and natural looking.

Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery, led by board certified plastic surgeons Dr. Burton M. Sundin and Dr. Reps B. Sundin, provides breast lift with implants surgery to patients in Richmond, Fredericksburg, Northern Virginia, and surrounding communities.

Candidates for a Combined Surgery

If you are bothered by the significant loss of volume in your breasts or you have naturally small breasts, you may want to choose breast augmentation plastic surgery. But if the breasts are already sagging with the nipples pointing downward, you may not benefit much from breast implants alone.

In this case, your surgeon may recommend a breast lift with implants as a more appropriate treatment option. You should be in good general health, have realistic expectations, and be committed to following your surgeon’s instructions for pre- and post-operative care for a safe surgery.

Breast Augmentation Procedure

Breast augmentation procedure will involve the placement of saline or silicone gel implants in your breast tissue to increase the cup size. The implants will be placed above or below the pectoral muscle, depending on your customized surgical plan.

Breast Lift Procedure

Your surgeon will use the same incisions to perform breast lift that have been created to insert the breast implants. However, an additional vertical incision may be necessary for the breast lift part of the procedure. The surgeon will restructure the skin, breast tissue and muscle in order to provide a subtle lift and firmness to your breasts.

Breast lift with augmentation surgery is typically performed using general anesthesia. The entire procedure may be completed in about two hours, but this can slightly vary according to your unique surgical plan.

Recovery after the Combined Procedure

Some inflammation and pain in the incision areas is expected for the first days after your breast implants with lift surgery. Bruising and swelling in the initial phase is normal and it will gradually resolve on its own.

Your surgeon will prescribe you pain meds to keep you comfortable in the first week. By the mid or end of the second week, most women would be ready to resume their normal routine or return to work.

Virginia Institute of Plastic Surgery receives patients from Richmond, Fredericksburg, Northern Virginia, and nearby areas for breast lift with implants surgery.
