A thigh lift is a cosmetic surgery that aims to correct excessive sagging by removing extra skin tissue from the inner or outer thighs. The amount of tissue removed is determined after a consultation with board-certified plastic surgeons Dr. Reps and Dr. Burton Sundin. The size and extent of the incision to be made by the surgeon is also determined during the consultation.
The basic steps of a thigh lift are anesthesia, the incision, closing the incision and the final results. The procedure begins with the administration of anesthesia to ensure comfort and eliminate pain. You may be given intravenous sedation or general anesthesia.
After this, incisions may be made along the groin and downwards around the back of the thigh. Other techniques allow incisions up from the groin and around the top of the hip. The incisions are closed after deep support sutures are applied to hold newly shaped tissue. The initial swelling and bruising may take several weeks to heal and reveal your final results.
